(This video also features valuable comments of His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, who besides being a guide to billions worldwide on holistic and people-centric sustainable science, is also educated on ancient vedic science and modern science. He is a visionary with unquestionable integrity, and an all-encompassing, loving, caring concern for this entire planet and all its life forms.)
I am not against GE per se. GE can be applied to human gene therapy, they can be creating medicines in a laboratory under very carefully watched conditions. BUT WE SHOULD NOT feed the products of an infant science to millions of people.
If you look at GM food from the perspective of a simple human being, not a biotechnologist, or a scientist or an activist,...and you ask yourself:
From all the evidence discovered about the REAL threat of GM food to you, to me, to all people on this planet...would you still support GM food that has NOT been sufficiently tested by neutral bodies???
You and I know that trials of GM foods on lab animals across the world have repeatedly shown that they cause bleeding stomachs, and adversely affect brain, lungs, liver, kidney, pancreas and intestine. They have been even linked to higher offspring mortality and causing infertility.
As the most evolved, visible beings on this planet with sufficient intelligence, we are directly responsible for OUR ACTIONS AS WELL AS INACTIONS.
I am responsible for global warming and I am responsible for the insecure IT professionals who are too busy saving brownie points for their next appraisal instead of creating brownie points for the planet they owe more to.
I am responsible for the corruption among the politicians and the distorted bureaucrats that's siphoning out our country morality underneath seats of power, and stashing black money into Swiss bank accounts.
I am responsible for the junk food generation of misled teenagers (more facts) and and few over-enthusiastic ambitious biotechnologists who are spirituality deprived and do not respect the planet and its delicate natural laws.
I am responsible for educating you about it.
But I am not responsible if you choose not to look at it neutrally or neglect doing your own research:
beyond your education conditioning if you are a biotechnologist
beyond your vote bank politics if you are a politician, beyond your comfort zone of "short term gain long term pain" attitude
beyond your insensitivity to your environment
“India is fast becoming the world’s biggest dustbin for this risky and unwanted technology. We are being told that these crops are essential for feeding the growing population, but there is not even one GM crop that produces higher yields. In fact, many of the GM crops produce less than the existing crops. And yet, as many as 56 foods crops are being genetically modified in India.”
-Devinder Sharma,
Food Policy key Analyst
“What we need is a moratorium on release of any GM crop and sale of any GM seed for at least next 5 to 7 years, till their safety is not assured through stringent and impartial tests, because what’s at stake here is not just our health but our very survival”
Indian citizens have voted out GM food, and that’s a large sizeable chunk of educated citizens here, Mr Prithviraj Chavan.
What will it take our foolhardy administrators to realize that they must not misuse their seats of power, and that the votes that gave them the ability to take GOOD and LONG-SIGHTED HOLISTIC decisions, must not be taken lightly.
Especially in the scenario where the farmer populace of the country is concerned…because agriculture is one of the strongest pillars of India when it comes to prosperity factors. And introducing GM food will invite the not-so-desirable side-effects of GM food…
Legally it will make our country vulnerable to the monopolies of GM manufacturers (Monsanto being the kingpin) and we all know how such irresponsible, greedy and manipulative organizations have don to other countries. It is WISE to learn from others’ mistakes, wont you agree?
From business perspective, Bt Brinjal will open flood gates to other GM foods, and the trade-off between a “SHORT-TERM” increase in productivity will leave a plague in all other aspects of agriculture, business, ethics, etc.
Environmentally, it will bring EXTINCTION to the hundred plus crops that are a blessing to India. And yes, GM crops turn the soil sterile to other crops, seriously compromising the integrity of our eco-system.
Health-wise, GM food causes the maximum damage. We have already discovered few NEGATIVE side-effects to health caused by GM food. These, GM organizations are unsuccessfully trying to hide under their carpets. However, Mr Chavan, the larger percentage of damage to your family and to mine, will be visible only when we like educated fools start eating GM food… BECAUSE SUFFICIENT RESEARCH has NOT BEEN CONDUCTED on GM food. And the little research done so far…well, we all know who conducted it.
Today Mr Prithviraj Chavan is underhandedly trying to introduce a bill that brings GM food into our country. As if, we do not have enough other important issues to take care of.
If The Biotechnology Regulatory Authority of India Bill 2009 (BRAI) is passed in the current parliamentary session, what will happen?
This is what this preposterous bill proposes:
The bill proposes to gag the media (Section 63) since it infringes upon the fundamental right of freedom of speech.
The penalty for creating awareness (misleading the public) about the ill effects of Genetically Modified issues may lead to an imprisonment of minimum six months and up to one year with a maximum fine of Rs.2 lakhs. Our right to freedom of speech will be curbed if this Bill is passed. The clauses of this bill are draconian and more stringent than even the repealed acts like POTA, TADA.
The worst is this: There was no provision for action against the company for concealment of facts (ill-effects) as it happened in case of tobacco in the US where the court fined $250 billion after several years.
GM crops must be strongly discouraged UNTIL SUFFICIENT TESTS are conducted by INDEPENDENT BODIES (The integrity of Monsanto tests is questionable right from grass-root level: http://www.monsantosucks.com/Newsnviews/revolvedoor.htm)
What say, Mr Chavan?
Otherwise, how would you like your children and grandchildren to remember you? I mean, God forbid it.
His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar—the global face of spiritual and unconditional humanitarian leadership, has been educated in modern as well as Vedic sciences, and with the unquestionable integrity that He is known world over for, this is what He has to say,
“We don’t need a bill that encourages free entry of GM food into India, without ensuring health safety of the people, besides penalizing the voice of protest.”
What can people like you and I do to protect our country and loved ones from such foolhardy politicians?
Start a signature campaign:
among your close friends and family
among your colleagues
among your neighbors and social circles
Team up with NGO's who have taken up active responsibility.
EDUCATEPEOPLE AROUND YOU, that's the LEAST you can do.
For all the obese consumers who don’t mind eating and treating friends and family at the nearest McDonald’s and KFC joints…
And for all the young, hormone-awash, media-stimulated, teenagers who think KFC and McDonald’s serve tastier food than their mothers can make…
For all the young corporates who are challenged and cannot think beyond KFC and McDonald’s when it comes to eating outside…
You and I are aware of the cruelty (includes the slavery in Africa that goes behind the scenes of these joints).
Why do you still haunt these joints?
Is your love for this beautiful planet that you are ACCOUNTABLE to, negotiable compared to your judgment about the dangers of such food, morally, spiritually, economically, and health-wise upon your health?
It doesn’t matter how old are you, which college you go to, which employer you work for, it doesn’t even matter if you rarely go to KFC and McD or you go there often. It is unhealthy and irresponsible. Please stop haunting KFC and McDonald’s immediately, for good.
IN THE END, IT WILL MATTER ONLY AND ONLY TO YOU.
For my friends in Europe, this is why you should immediately stop visiting KFC and McDonalds.
Looks Familiar? It's Foie Gras. Translated into English, it means "Fat Liver"
This luxurious menu dish originated from France.
But this dish comes from FORCE FEEDING a goose to make them develop the FATTY LIVER DISEASE!
The geese are force-fed
The metal pipe is made to pass through its throat to the stomach..ensures adequate pain and brutality to make the liver bigger and fatter
Small cages force the geese to stay in one position to avoid using energy, thus converting all food into fat.
Their legs swell up from standing all day
They are defenseless and this they learn quickly, after repeated torture.
They are force-fed until they are dead or their bodies cant stand with this
The survivors develop inflamed anal orifice...and they bleed profusely while they excrete, Their mouths, throat and stomach ache from this senseless force-feeding. Their legs swell to enormous sizes, and deprivation of sleep wrecks their nerves. Would you like to eat such an animal? What effect will such a diseased food cause to your nerves and to your body?
Isn't it unimaginable...the hidden cruelty and disease that goes into this dish that LOOKS tasty!
I would never take my significant other or my loved ones to a restaurant or food joint that serves such diseased cruelty-laced dish.
Would you?
STOP THE DEMAND AND THE SUPPLY WILLEND
For readers in India, who are wondering how does visiting KFC and McDonald's once in a while affect these mute geese: Every penny you spend at KFC or McDonald's is a generous contribution to the Organization that sells such food in any corner of this world.
Pasteurization deprives children of the essential constituents that clean, raw milk can provide.
As for the health-conscious consumers who need REAL milk, pasteurized milk is fooling them into an illusion of milk, whereas fact is they are just consuming some white liquid that has near-zero essential nutrition.
What’s worse is all this artificial treatments to milk (and other food products) have created a generation of weak individuals who have weak immunity levels…due to excessive hygiene of course. This should be a reality-check for readers who say “raw milk may just be full of harmful bacteria”…I am sure the human race existed, in fact they thrived better long before Pasteur was heard of.
Pasteurization had set out to accomplish 2 things: destruction of germs, and preventing milk from turning sour (this is funny…because sour milk is super good for invalids, as a laxative). It did achieve the mentioned goals, at a greater cost that destroys the purpose itself.
Pasteurization ended up destroying even the beneficial bacteria which is why we drink milk. Not just that, pasteurization destroys nutrition in the milk. And this measure taken to prevent milk from souring, creates more favorable conditions for UNDESIRABLE GERMS to MULTIPLY very very fast.
The problem which Pasteur missed is that, its dirty milk causes menace, NOT raw milk. RAW MILK IS GOOD.
Some zealots say raw milk can cause tuberculosis. I have discovered some studies conducted on this assumption which revealed that pasteurized milk had also caused tuberculosis.
The last discovery I made is, pasteurization is the main offender when it comes to turning the much –needed calcium in milk, into insoluble by the body! RESULTS: rickets, bad teeth, nervous troubles. This also depletes the phosphorus associated with Calcium. RESULTS: serious effect on bone and brain formation. Pasteurization also destroys 20 percent of the iodine present in raw milk. RESULTS: constipation.
Now, for those special few people in denial (who ironically also happen to be intellectually stimulated), here are the numbers and figures: http://www.karlloren.com/aajonus/p15.htm. End Of Discussion :-)
Instead of forcing dealers to set up expensive machinery for turning raw milk into a mutant white zero nutrition liquid, can the government ensure our dairy-farmers produce clean, raw milk?
a vampire movie (Twilight part 2: slow, but interesting...little too mushy..Ashley Greene should have smiled more often..everytime she was with Robert Pattinson, she looked like she was suppressing a terrible headache inside :-) LOL) last night
day-long laptop radiation
excessive cell phone usage @ night
barely any sleep
Bangalore morning traffic and its stressed out, spaced out commuters throwing oodles of stress energy all around
...@ Sony World traffic signal, lights went red, my auto driver (some Mr Khan) and I were cajoled by a eunuch (a daily routine for eunuchs), and routine-wise the auto driver handed her a few coins
...for those who don't know, in India, eunuchs donot have any rights, and hence they have formed a closed community which goes around asking for money...though most of them are happy souls, there are some aggressive souls too...thanks to these aggressive souls, most people do not get into an argument (God forbid!) and dole out some cash...
well, she blessed the auto driver, and next was my turn, I smiled, mentally blessed her, and handed her some cash too...she went all out pulling @ my cheeks (real hard..ouch!) and mouthed in heavy-accentuated Tamil...
"bless you...be happy...well, why dont you grow a moustache..you'll look handsome" ...this went hand in hand with the sign language she used to describe moustache (BIIIIG moustache), and moved on.
Microsoft Paint zindabaad! :-)
Understanding the fact that sporting a big burly moustache makes you a much-sought after guy in south India, I only smiled imagining how I'd look in moustaches. (considering that I am allergic to sporting moustaches)
Of course after she left I wondered at the irony. In a country like India, where communism has spread like a plague in over 400 territories out of 600...will even a single fanatic communist even bother to cry his/her voice hoarse for the right of eunuchs. I am sure, they wont. After all, their warm-blooded agenda's are selective and motivated by thirst for power. Of course they are blind to their own history when communism failed in the Soviet Union, and left so many crores of people dead, and many more in worst living conditions.
I no longer feel anger at our short-sighted FMCG-mentality politicians, and the communists who are misleading simple-hearted gullible youths in naxalism...I only feel compassion.
